What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic research leader with a strong background in economics, energy policy, public policy, political economy and industrial development in Oman and the GCC. The ideal candidate brings proven experience in leading research programmes, managing consultancy assignments, and delivering high-quality policy-relevant outputs.
The candidate should possess strong analytical and writing skills, a strategic mindset, and the ability to translate complex research into actionable insights aligned with Oman Vision 2040 and regional development priorities in the GCC. A solid understanding of Oman’s economic landscape and the wider Gulf region is highly desirable.
This is a full-time position based in Muscat, where you will work closely with senior leadership to shape the Council’s research agenda, lead flagship studies, and contribute to the development of new programmes and partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Direction

• Lead the development of flagship studies and advisory programs.
• Ensure alignment between research programs and the Council’s institutional strategy.
• Define thematic priorities and research frameworks for Majan Council’s strategic studies.
  Programme & Consultancy Oversight

• Oversee consultancy assignments, competitive tenders, and advisory projects.
• Ensure timely and high-quality delivery of research and consultancy outputs.
• Supervise research and project management teams involved in program implementation.
• Monitor program progress, timelines, and deliverables.
  Program Leadership & Coordination

• Lead the planning and implementation of Majan Council’s research programs and initiatives in the economics, public policy, or political economy.
• Coordinate across research teams to ensure effective program delivery.
• Engage with institutional partners and stakeholders involved in program activities.
• Support the development of proposals for strategic studies and consultancy assignments.
  Quality Assurance

• Ensure analytical rigor and methodological consistency across studies and consultancy outputs.
• Review major research outputs and strategic reports.
• Promote best practices in program management and analytical work.
  Institutional Coordination

• Coordinate closely with the other Directors on positioning and external engagement.
• Support the alignment of programs with institutional priorities and external collaboration initiatives.
