GCC Investment in Hydrogen-Based Green Industrial Development

The Rihla Initiative for Green Economic Growth, in partnership with the Majan Council and Bourse & Bazaar Foundation, hosted sessions at the Green Hydrogen Summit Oman (GHSO 2025) focusing on GCC investment in hydrogen-based green industries.

The discussions highlighted strategic collaboration between GCC and international partners (such as the EU) to advance green hydrogen development.

They also explored investment and policy incentives in Oman, including tax breaks and reduced land fees, designed to attract early-stage projects coordinated by Hydrom.

Sessions emphasized industrial integration, using hydrogen to decarbonize heavy industries while enabling the creation of new green sectors. Research and innovation were key themes, with contributions from Morocco’s IRESEN on hydrogen storage and transport solutions.

Regional platforms like GHSO and the Rihla series were recognized as important venues for cooperation and investment dialogue.

Key partners included Hydrom (Oman), the EU-GCC Cooperation Project, Majan Council, Bourse & Bazaar Foundation, IRESEN (Morocco), and Dutch institutions such as TNO and the Port of Rotterdam — all working toward an integrated hydrogen value chain and a sustainable energy future.
